West Bank, ALRAY - Israeli settlers set fire Wednesday to hundreds of olive trees in the northern West Bank village of Burin, Ghassan Daghlas, official in charge of settlement file reported.
Daghlas stated that settlers from the illegal settlement of Yitzhar sneaked into Burin farmland and set fire to hundreds of olive trees in the southern parts of the village, southern Nablus.
He added that Israeli army prevented Palestinian firetrucks from reaching the area to put off the fire, which caused the fire to spread and resulted in heavy losses to the farmers.
He noted that Israeli settlers' bulldozers uprooted a number of olive trees and robbed them earlier, before setting fire to the rest of the trees.
For his part, the head of the village council of Burin Yahya Qadous estimated the number of trees that burned by about 1600 olive trees.
