Occupied Palestine, ALRAY - Israeli human rights group B'Tselem said that the Israeli occupation forces make use of the tear gas canisters to kill Palestinian protesters participating in Gaza’s Great March of Return protests.
The group pointed out in a press statement on Tuesday that among the 200 Palestinians killed in Gaza during the Great March of Return protests, at least seven Palestinians died as a result of hitting them directly with tear gas canisters.
According to the OCHA, more than 1,600 protesters were injured as a result of hitting them directly with tear gas, the group indicated.
It added that the OCHA considers firing tear gas canisters towards protesters directly as a part of the open-fire policy which Israeli forces have been implementing along the Gaza border for more than a year.
The B'Tselem added that even crowd control weapons, including tear gas canisters which are not designed to hit protesters directly, have turned by the Israeli occupation forces into deadly weapons.
It’s noteworthy to mention that 216 Palestinians, including 43 minors, have been killed by Israeli occupation forces and thousands were wounded since the start of the Great March of Return protests on Land Day in 2018.
