Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - An Israeli occupation court on Sunday evening ordered the Palestinian family of Dweik to vacate their house in Baten Al-Hawa area in occupied Jerusalem’s neighborhood of Silwan in favor of a settlement association.
The Israeli court rejected the objections submitted by the family of Dweik on the judicial notifications they received from Ateret Cohanim settlement organization in 2014, Wadi Helwa Information Center-Silwan and Baten Al-Hawa Neighborhood Committee pointed out.
Mazen Dweik said that the house consists of five floors and is home to five families, indicating that his grandfather bought the land in 1963. He added that the family have been living there since then.
Around 84 Palestinian families in the neighborhood had received over the past years several notifications, demanding the lands on which their houses are built, Wadi Helwa Information Center-Silwan and Baten Al-Hawa Neighborhood Committee pointed out.
They added that these families are fighting the case in Israeli courts to prove their rights of the lands they purchased from previous owners with official documentations.
