London, ALRAY - The UK has condemned the Israeli occupation’s decision to build 1077 housing units for illegal settlers in occupied southern Jerusalem.
This decision comes after Israel’s announcement on February 22 to construct 2200 additional housing units in illegal settlements in the occupied city.
Settlements construction undermine the prospect of establishing a future Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, said James Cleverly, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, in a press statement on Monday.
The statement stressed that the UK’s position on Israeli settlement is clear: they are illegal under international law, as they damage efforts to launch new peace negotiations.
The statement urged the Israeli occupation to immediately stop its settlement activities
