ـJordan, Alray -Jordan on Monday condemned Israel’s establishment of a platform in the southern area of the Buraq Courtyard in Al Aqsa Mosque complex, describing the measure as a “flagrant” attack against historical Islamic sites.
Minister of Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani called on the occupation authorities to remove the platform as soon as possible, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He reiterated His Majesty King Abdullah’s and Jordan’s rejection of the so-called Sharansky compromise, which seeks to expand and raise the area adjacent to the Buraq Courtyard at the expense of other Islamic parts of Al Haram Al Sharif, the third holiest site in Islam, Petra reported.
Momani underlined the government’s commitment to exert all diplomatic, political and legal efforts necessary to safeguard Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, warning against the repercussions of calls raised by settlers and radical Jews to attack Al Aqsa Mosque during Jewish celebrations.
The spokesperson urged the international community to pressure Israel to prevent such practices, which “provokes” Muslims and peace supporters across the world, according to Petra.
