Jerusalem, ALRAY - An Israeli occupation military court has adjourned the trial of Palestinian detainee Ahmed Manasra as his mental health continues to deteriorate.

Manasra’s lawyer, Khaled Zabarqa, said that the session to consider the matter of extending his solitary confinement was postponed until 20 September.

His psychological and health conditions continue to deteriorate as he has been held in solitary confinement for nearly two years, according to Zabarqa.

The Israeli occupation is holding Manasra in harsh conditions despite all efforts being made by his legal team to secure his release, along with international demands to pardon him due to his mental health.

The Israeli occupation army detained Mansara in 2015 in horrific circumstances as a 13-year-old child when he was with his cousin, Hassan Manasra, who was shot dead after allegedly stabbing two Israeli colonial settlers in the illegal "Pisgat Ze'ev" settlement in the occupied West Bank.

His 15-year-old cousin was shot dead at the scene, whereas Ahmad was violently attacked by a mob of Israeli colonial settlers and run over by a colonial settler, leaving him with fractures to his skull and internal bleeding.

An Israeli court acknowledged that Manasra did not take part in the alleged stabbing but still charged him with "attempted murder".

In 2016, the Israeli court sentenced Mansara to 12 years in prison but his sentence was later reduced to nine years and a half

According to a Palestinian prisoners' rights group, the Israeli occupation is holding around 5,100 Palestinian detainees in inhumane conditions, including more than 1,200 under the so-called administrative detention without charge.
