West Bank, ALRAY - An Israeli occupation military court has sentenced a Palestinian mother of four children to six years in prison and ordered her to pay a massive fine.

According to human rights groups, the Israeli military court of “Salem” handed Yasmin Shaban, 40, a 72-month prison term and fined her 8,000 shekels ($2,100).

The Israeli occupation army detained Shaban during a raid on her home in Rummanah town, east of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank on 1 March 2022.

The Israeli occupation prison service denied her from attending the funeral of her father, who passed away on 18 March 2023.

This is the second time Shaban has been detained. The Israeli occupation detained her on 3 November 2014 and sentenced her to five years in jail.

Shaban suffers from several health problems, including asthma and gland disorders. However, she is denied proper healthcare by the Israeli occupation prison authority.

The number of female Palestinian detainees has risen to 35 after the Israeli occupation detained three women early this month.

The Israeli occupation is holding around 5,100 Palestinian detainees in inhumane conditions, including more than 1,200 under the so-called administrative detention without charge, according to a Palestinian prisoners’ rights group.
