Gaza, Al Ray - Thousands of Palestinians thronged into the hall of Dock Pullman in central Paris coming from across Europe to attend the 12th Palestinians in Europe Conference, the Safa news agency reported.
“A united Palestine for the Promise of Return” will be the slogan for this year’s one-day conference, to be held in coordination between the London-based Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), the Palestinian Forum in France, as well as European supporters of Palestine.
Key speakers at the conference are Former Jordanian Prime Minister Taher al-Masri, Palestinian ambassador to France Hayel Fahoum, President of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Aziz Dweik (via video conferencing technology), in addition to Arab ambassadors to Paris and diplomats.
Head of the organizing committee for the conference Mazen Khail expected the turnout to be up to 18,000 and conference to make headlines as leaders of Palestinian communities of Europe and good number of solidarity activists are participating, the Safa news agency reported.
In a previous statement, Khail said the key issues to be on the agenda for this year’s conference are the right of return for refugees, the plight of Palestinian refugees in Syria, Gaza Siege, Israeli settlement, Jerusalem, prisoners, Apartheid Wall, and Negotiations.
The conference also will take on the recently signed Palestinian reconciliation agreement, and urge for its quickening its implementation.
It will include different activities like Palestinian heritage, folklore, film screening, and photo exhibitions in addition to holding a market for Palestinian products.
This conference is a major event in Europe and has been running successively for eleven years. It has successfully bonded thousands of Palestinians to the just cause of Palestine and their right of return.
