ALRAY - Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons decided to declare a general hunger strike Wednesday, protesting the death of Raed al-Gaabari under mysterious circumstances in Eshel Prison Tuesday.
Qadoura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society, rejected the claims of Israeli prison services that al- Gaabari committed suicide, calling the international institutions to carry out an investigate on the circumstances of his death.
The Chief of Prisoners Affairs, Issa Qaraqe said that al-Gaabari was not suffering of any illnesses before being transferred to Soroka Medical Center.
He noted that it seems that al-Gabaari tortured by Nahshon forces while being transferred from Ofer prison to Eshel.
Qaraqe called for forming an international investigation committee to find out the full reasons that stand behind the death of the prisoner Gabaari.
Israeli prison services declared a state of alert after announcing the death of Gabbari.
Al-Gaabari was detained on July 26 following the disappearance and subsequent murder of three Jewish settlers in the West Bank.
He died Tuesday in Soroka Medical Center after being transferred to Eshel prison.
