West Bank, ALRAY- The lawyer of the detainees and ex-prisoners affairs Karim Ajwa, said that the Israeli prison service (IPS) still practice the policy of deliberate medical negligence against sick prisoners.

Ajwa added that Abu-Kharbish, 53, from Ein el-Sultan refugee camp in Jericho, who has been held in Israeli jails for 30 years, suffers from several health problems and he is not being treated.

He suffered from heart problems in addition to skin problem eight months ago. He also had blood pressure, cholesterol, blood lipids and problems in the vertebrae of the spine.

Abu Kharabish explained to the lawyer that the IPS deliberately neglects providing medical treatment for detainees.

He also stated that he has been deprived for a long time from visiting his wife, daughter and brothers, and has not been visited by one of his sisters for 14 years.

He also said that the prisoners Ali Barghouthi, 44, from Aboud, Ramallah district, who was sentenced to life imprisonment twice and 45 years, after the last hunger strike, the detainee feels stiffness in the hands, dizziness and pulse problems. He does not receive the necessary treatment or diagnosis for his condition.

Local human rights organizations reported in 2014 that 800 patient prisoners, out of 6800 Palestinian prisoners, are serving in various Israeli prisons.

More than 24 prisoners are suffering from mental illness and health deterioration due to the lack of medical care. IPS give them only painkillers and drugs that force the patient to sleep for long hours.

Due the policy of medical neglect, 58 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli prisons, four of whom died last year:  Ashraf Ayoub, Arafat Jaradat , Maisara Abu Hamdiya and Hassan al-Turabi. Several prisoners are at risk dying due to their serious health condition such as Matsamm Raddad , Mansour mowqeda , Alaa al-Hams and Yosry al-Masry.
