West Bank, ALRAY - Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit addressed and approved the expropriation of 45 dunams of private Palestinian lands located within the Ofra settlement , paving the way to the retroactive legalization of at least 13 settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank.
Ofra settlement located on private Palestinian lands in the villages of Yabroud and Silwad.
B'Tselem obtained a list of 43 vouchers backed to 2008, of which 210 dunums were located inside the built-up area of the settlement of Ofra, and that located outside the expropriated area under the order of the military commander.
Israeli Public Prosecution asked the Israeli High court to allow it to use 45 dunams of Ofra settlement, even though these lands are private Palestinian lands.
A recently published legal opinion by Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, which addressed and approved of the expropriation of private Palestinian land, could pave the way to the retroactive legalization of at least 13 settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank.
According to Haaretz paper, the core of Mandelblit’s opinion “is the finding that land owned by individual Palestinians can be expropriated to create an access road to an outpost even if the road is to be used only by Jewish settlers.
