Jerusalem, ALRAY -- US President Donald Trump announced to delay moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem pass without signing a new one, where the decision will be taken in the next few days.

In a statement made by White House spokesman added that Trump will announce in the next few days whether to sign a decision to stop moving US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or not.

“No action though will be taken today and we will declare a decision on the transfer in the coming days,” Hogan Gidley said.

Recently, US media reported the intention to try to recognize Jerusalem as the united and eternal capital of Israel.

Trump had promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem during his campaign, and has reportedly expressed his inability to do so due to security concerns that the transfer could spark renewed tensions in the region.

Officials say that the embassy move is unlikely to be taken outright, but Trump may instead deliver a speech later this week recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

In 1995, the US Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and stating that the US Embassy should be moved there.

US successive presidents repeatedly postponed the move on grounds of “national security,” from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush and Barack Obama, meaning the law has never taken effect.
