Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - Extremist Israeli settlers on Monday morning broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound via the Moroccan Gate as Muslim worshipers were being forced by Israeli occupation police to evacuate Bab Al-Rahma area.
Jerusalem’s Islamic Endowments Department said that about 50 settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa in the morning, amid intensive presence of the occupation forces.
The department added that the forces provided protection for the settlers as they were carrying out provocative tours in the mosque’s courtyards.
The settlers, the department also added, received explanations on the alleged “Temple Mount” by a group of rabbis who were accompanying them, pointing out that some of them performed Talmudic rituals in front of the Dome of the Rock and Bab Al-Rahma chapel, before leaving the mosque via Bab al-Silsilah.
The department pointed out that worshipers, educational students, and guards of the al-Aqsa mosque who were present there defended it by chants and Takbeer (saying Allah Akbar), and hampered the settlers from roaming it freely.
On the start of Sukkot on Monday, Jewish organizations called on Jews to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and perform Talmudic rituals in tis courtyards.
Around 1111 Israeli settlers broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Compound during the past week, and 360 settlers stormed the courtyards on Yom Kippur, compared to 230 in 2018 and 160 in 2017, According active settlement organizations.
Wadi Helwa Information Center reported in a statement that 2408 settlers and Jewish students broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound during last September.
