Jordan, ALRAY - Lands of Baqoura and Ghumar returned to the Jordanian sovereignty after a quarter century of Wadi Araba Peace Treaty with Israel, Jordanian Kingdom decided to terminate the annexes and return the lands to Jordanian sovereignty..
The annexes of Wadi Arab Peace treaty in 1994 , put the lands under Israel's disposal for 25 years, providing that the agreement renewed automatically, unless Jordanian Kingdom terminate it.
In October 2018, Majesty King Abdullah announced the Kingdom's decision to terminate the annexes on the Baqoura and Ghumar areas in the Peace Treaty with Israel by the end of their legal term in October, 2019.
Jordan informed Israel on Thursday that by Sunday Israeli farmers will not allowed access to Baqoura and Ghumar areas.
Annexes A, B of Wadi Arab Peace treaty put the aforementioned areas under the Israeli disposal, providing Israel's recognition of Jordan sovereignty over them.
According to Jordanian media, the law of borders and foreigners will be applied to anyone who has a right in the territory of the border area, to be allowed to enter as a foreigner or investor on a visa from the approved border centers, and not directly from the entrances to the land of Baqoura, as was the case for a quarter a century.
