Jenin, ALRAY - The Israeli Military Court and Detention Center in Salem near Jenin has extended the detention of Palestinian boy Qasem Abu Baker, residing in the town of Ya’bad, west of Jenin, for the sixth time in a row.
Mother of Abu Baker said that the Israeli authorities extended the detention of her son, 17, for one week, adding that he is due to appear before the Israeli prosecution next Monday.
The Abu Baker’s mother added that Israeli forces detained Qasem on April 17, 2020, after raiding on their house and destroying its contents, and moved him for interrogation in the Jalama detention center where he is still being interrogated there.
The Israeli court extended the detention of Abu Baker with a recommendation from the Israeli intelligence on the pretext that he is still to be interrogated.
According to Palestinian figures, about 5,700 Palestinians, including 48 women and 250 children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention jails.
