Gaza, ALRAY - Israeli navy ships on Thursday attacked Palestinian fishing boats sailing off the coast of the northern blockaded Gaza Strip.
The Committee Documenting Israeli Violations against Palestinian Fishermen said that the naval ships fired gunfire at fishermen sailing within the permitted zone off the coast of the northern strip.
It pointed out that there were no reports of injuries among the fishermen.
Israeli forces routinely open fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen sailing within the allowed-nautical-miles zone and also towards shepherds and farmers along the border fence.
They flagrantly violate the ceasefire deal reached between the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian factions in Gaza on August 26, 2014 following the 51 days of aggression on Gaza.
Israeli human rights group B’Tselem has recently said that Israel’s closure of Gaza and harassment of fishermen have been “destroying Gaza’s fishing sector,” with 95% of fishermen living below the poverty line.
