Ramallah, ALRAY - British Consul General in occupied Jerusalem Philip Hall has asserted his country’s position on rejecting the Israeli settlement policy in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem.
“The Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal, as they represent an obstacle to achieving peace,” the consul said.
“We’re talking frankly with the Israelis regarding the need to stop the construction of settlements so as to make way for peace and achieve the two-state solution,” he added.
He also reiterated that Britain is committed to providing political and economic support for the Palestinian government, in order to continue building state institutions and to achieve the Palestinian national principle to self-determination.
The British Consul General went on to say that Britain is continuous in its political support for the Palestinian people, which was seen in its rejection to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and its refusal to the annexation plan.
