The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs denounced on Wednesday Israeli tenders for the construction of 2,572 new illegal settlement units in the occupied West Bank.
Spokesperson for the Ministry Daifallah Fayez said that settlement activities are not legal nor lawful but condemned and rejected and are considered a blatant violation of international law, foremost among them the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2334.
“The settlement activity policy, in general, is considered a stark violation of international law as it undermines peace principles and the efforts to achieve it, as well as the prospects of the two-state solution on the basis of international legitimacy laws,” Fayez stressed.
Fayez called on the international community to assume its responsibility and place pressure on the Israeli occupation to end its colonial policies and settlement activity.
The international community views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as occupied territories and considers all Israeli settlement construction there as illegal.
