Gaza, Alray - Deputy Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Hamdan Barghouti said "the Israeli occupation decision to close the central landfill in city is unfair and warns of environmental threats to public health.

"The decision should be suspended immediately," Barghouthi said Monday, warning of forthcoming heated public protests.

The warning came during a meeting of the mayors of the municipalities of Ramallah, Al-Bireh, and Bitounia and Ministries of Environment and Local Government and representatives of national forces.

He pointed out that "the occupation made this decision at a time where there is no alternatives," which would pose painful diseases and health hazards to the locals.   

The attendees considered the decision as one of the occupation measures to damage the agricultural lands, stressing that this decision will not pass unnoticed and be addressed for harm it brings about to the whole community.
