West Bank, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation is seeking to double its settler population in the occupied Jordan Valley over the next four years, an Israeli TV channel reported Tuesday.
Israeli occupation Housing and Construction Minister Ze'ev Elkin is pushing ahead with a plan to double the number of Israeli settlers in the occupied Jordan Valley within four years.
Elkin is planning to present the resolution to the Israeli occupation government for approval in the near future.
Over the past few years, the number of Israeli settlers has jumped to 13,000 living in 38 illegal settlements built on vast swathes of occupied Palestinian land in a blatant violation of international law, according to Palestinian sources.
The Israeli TV channel claimed that the plan does not include building new settlements but only expanding the existing ones.
The Israeli occupation is planning to take over the Jordan Valley by allowing Israeli settlers to graze their cattle in Palestinian lands, which will be later annexed to settlements or be used to establish new illegal outposts.
The Israeli occupation government also is seeking to grab further Palestinian land and forcefully evacuate Palestinian communities by declaring these areas "closed military zones."
