Gaza, ALRAY - The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the occupied Palestinian territory expressed shock over the "extrajudicial execution" of Mohammad Shawkat Sleemah by Israeli occupation forces in Jerusalem's Bab al-Amud area.
"Extra-judicial killings such as this are the consequence of the regular resort to lethal force by well-armed and well-protected Israeli security personnel against Palestinians, and the almost total lack of accountability for killings and injuries of Palestinians by Israeli forces," the UN body said in a statement.
"Will there be accountability in this case?" OHCHR wondered, noting that it would monitor the case further.
Video footage went viral on social media showing Israeli occupation forces shooting Sleemah at point-blank range until he died.
As he was lying wounded on the ground, Israeli occupation soldiers shot Sleemah twice, killing him instantly.
