Washington, ALRAY - US congresswoman Betty McCollum held the Israeli occupation responsible for the killing of 80-year-old Palestinian-American Omar Asad after detaining and assaulting him.
In a tweet, McCollum condemned Asad's brutal killing by Israeli occupation forces, adding that he is "another victim of this cruel occupation."
"This week 80-year old Omar Abdulmajeed Asaad, a Palestinian-American living in the West Bank, was pulled from his car, beaten by Israeli soldiers, and left to die on the side of the road," she wrote, offering her sincere condolences to his family.
The Democratic lawmaker from the state of Minnesota started a campaign to collect signatures of members of Congress for a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, demanding him to follow up the investigation into Asad's murder.
Pro-Palestine activists in the US also have contacted other lawmakers to push for a probe into Asad's killing.
Asad was killed after Israeli occupation soldiers detained, handcuffed, and beat him to death during a raid on Jiljilya village on the outskirts of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah last Tuesday.
