Gaza, ALRAY - Palestinian detainee Mohammed al-Ardah, who freed himself from "Gilboa" prison last September, has suspended his hunger strike that he launched last Thursday to protest Israeli punitive measures against him.

On 12 December last year, the Israeli prison administration imposed penalties on al-Ardah after statements he made in his latest trial.

The punitive measures included banning his family and lawyer from visiting him, barring him from accessing the prison canteen and using electrical devices for two months, in addition to placing him in solitary confinement for two weeks.

Al-Ardah suspended his strike after the prison warden promised him that he would fulfil his demands.

He set a deadline at January 17 for the Israeli prison service to meet his demands.
