Gaza, ALRAY - The Electricity Distribution Company in the Gaza Strip has announced that it was informed that the besieged enclave's sole power plant has ceased its operations at noon (09:00 GMT).
In a press statement on Saturday afternoon, the company said that the power plant completely shut down after fuel shipments run out due to the continuous closure of Gaza's crossings by the Israeli occupation authorities.
The company stressed the shutdown will lead to severe power shortages and will consequently affect all vital facilities and households in the blockaded strip, exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
It called on local hospitals, institutions, municipalities, and facilities to take the measures needed to tackle lengthy power cuts.
Meanwhile, the company called on all relevant parties to intervene urgently and to pressure the Israeli occupation into allowing entry of fuel shipments necessary to operate the power plant.
