Hebron, ALRAY - Hundreds of extremist Israeli settlers on Sunday night held a musical concert inside the Ibrahimi Mosque in occupied Hebron, in a blatant violation on its sanctity.

Local sources said that the settlers stormed the Ibrahim Mosque and organized a musical concert which included Talmudic dances, as part of their celebrations of the Jewish holidays.

The sources added that tight Israeli measures were imposed in the surroundings of the mosque, so as to secure the settlers’ musical concert.

For his part, director of the Ibrahim Mosque, Ghassan al-Rajabi, said that the Israeli settlers along with Israeli occupation forces stormed the mosque last night, brought in musical instruments and amplifiers, and organized a concert in a flagrant violation of the places of worship.

Last week, Israeli occupation authorities closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslims worshipers, so as to allow illegal Israeli settlers to celebrate their holidays.

The closure of the mosque is a blatant encroachment on its sanctity and a provocative violation of Muslims' right to access their place of worship, as it is a continuation of the Israeli authorities’ attempts to dominate and judaize the mosque.

The Israeli occupation authorities divided the Ibrahimi Mosque in 1994 between Muslims and illegal settlers following the heinous massacre committed by an Israeli settler which left over 50 Palestinians dead. Prior to that time, it was an exclusive Muslim worship area.
