Jerusalem, ALRAY - Israeli occupation forces (IOF) imposed late Tuesday a siege on the occupied city of Jerusalem, closing most of the streets and isolating several neighborhoods under the pretext of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
The closure of the streets has disrupted the movement of Palestinian Jerusalemites in the city and caused suffocating traffic crises in several areas.
The IOF placed concrete blocks and red ribbons in the vicinity of the town of Jabal al-Mukaber and closed one of the entrances to the Wadi al-Rababa neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of al-Aqsa Mosque.
The IOF also imposed a siege on Sheikh Jarrah and Masrara neighborhoods leading to the Damascus Gate. The closures led to a major traffic crisis at the Qalandia checkpoint and the roads leading to the Ras Khamis Gate northeast of occupied Jerusalem.
It is clearly noticeable that the IOF uses Jewish holidays as an excuse to harass Palestinian Jerusalemites by imposing a siege on the city and closing roads and neighborhoods.
