Jerusalem, ALRAY - Wounded Jerusalemite detainee Israa Ja’abis, 38, from the town of Jabal al-Mukaber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, entered on Tuesday her eighth consecutive year of detention in Israeli prisons.

Amjad Abu Asab, Head of the Society of the Palestinian Detainees’ Families in occupied Jerusalem, said that Israeli forces detained Ja'abis on the 11the of October 2015 while driving her car and charged her with an alleged attempt to carry out an attack by car.

Abu Asab pointed out that Ja’abis suffered severe burns all over her body after the fire broke out inside the car, and later the Israeli occupation court sentenced her to 11 years in prison.

Upon her arrest, Ja’abis was deprived of her only child of a young age and has been transferred to several Israeli prisons, and is currently detained in Damon prison.

Ja’abis suffers greatly from the pain of wounds and burns, and needs several surgeries urgently; however, the Israeli prison administration is procrastinating in providing her with the necessary treatment.

Despite the harsh circumstances, Ja’abis managed to pass high school four years ago, and she is very distinguished in handicrafts and participates in several activities with her fellow women detainees.
