West Bank, ALRAY - An Israeli occupation military court has renewed the administrative detention order against Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Riyad Abu Safiya for another six months for the second time.

Israeli occupation forces detained Abu Safiya, 62, on 28 April after storming and ransacking his home in Beit Sira village in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

Abu Safiya was then transferred to "Ofer" prison for questioning. One week later, the Israeli occupation authorities issued him a six-month administrative detention order.

One day before his first detention order was set to end, the Israeli court extended his detention without charge for another six months at the request of the Israeli occupation intelligence service.

One of the hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials who were exiled to Marj Al-Zohour in southern Lebanon in 1992, Abu Safiya had been detained several times and jailed for a total of eight years by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Israeli occupation detains five Palestinian fishermen off northern Gaza shores

Gaza, ALRAY - Israeli occupation naval forces detained early Thursday five Palestinian fishermen off northern Gaza shores.

A local source reported that the Israeli occupation forces detained five Palestinian fishermen after directly assaulting them while they were working off northern Gaza shores.

The source added that the detained fishermen were identified as the four brothers Ahmed, Abdel Malik, Muhannad and Mahmoud al-Hassi, in addition to Fares Murad al-Hassi, before being taken to an unknown destination.

It is worth mentioning that Israeli naval forces attack and detain Palestinian fishermen very often and prevent them from fishing freely, on the pretext of exceeding their limited distance to fish.
