Jerusalem- ALRAY, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the recent UN resolution of Palestinian issue. The International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion on Israel's violation of the Palestinians' the right to self-determination and its occupation of Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
In a statement, the OIC clarified the positions of the countries that supported these resolutions in affirmation of their commitment to international law and the principles of truth, justice, and peace.
It stressed that the resolutions express the commitment and support of the international community for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The OIC called on the international community to implement the UN resolutions that lead to an end of occupation, achieve international justice, and enable the Palestinians to exercise their rights, including their right of return, self-determination, and the embodiment of their independent state at the beginning of the fourth of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Friday evening, 98 countries at the United Nations voted in favor of a Palestinian proposal, 17 opposed it, and 52 abstained; among the opponents were the USA, Italy, Germany, Australia, Canada, Austria and the Czech Republic.
