Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - Heavily guarded Israeli settlers on Tuesday seized over an important Palestinian-owned land in Wadi Hilwa neighborhood in the town of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli occupation forces encircled the land from all sides and assaulted the Palestinian people who came to resist the takeover, then the settlers embarked on setting up an iron fence around it.

Palestinian activist Radwan Amro said that the families were shocked by the Israeli settlers storming the land and erecting an iron fence around it in preparation to seize it.

He pointed out that the land was administered by the Christian Monastery, noting that the settlers stormed the land, exploiting the celebration of the new year holidays.

Amro indicated that the land, identified as “Al-Hamra”, is the most important in Silwan town in term of its historical, archeological, and religious position, as it relies south of the al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and beneath the Wadi Helwa neighborhood.
