West Bank, ALRAY -The Israeli occupation court renewed on Wednesday the administrative detention order against Palestinian detainee Ghassan Karajeh, 32, from the town of Safa in Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, for an additional six months, for the second time in a row.

Al-Asra Media Office stated that Israeli occupation forces detained Karajah on the 11th of August 2022 after raiding his home in the town of Safa and transferring him to the Ofer military detention center. Two weeks after his detention, the court issued an administrative detention order against him for a period of six months.

Al-Asra Office explained that several days before the end of Karajeh’s sentence and his release, the Israeli occupation court issued an order to renew the administrative for a second time for an additional six months.

Karajeh was previously detained several times and spent a total of six years in Israeli prisons, the first of which was in 2012 when he spent 24 months, then he was detained in 2017 and spent 12 months in administrative detention. A few months later, he was detained again and sentenced to 20 months in prison.

He was detained again in 2021 and spent 9 months in prison, then in August 2022 he was issued a 6-month administrative detention order.

Last year, Karajeh as well as 30 other administrative detainees went on an open-ended hunger strike in rejection of the policy of arbitrary administrative detention, with a comprehensive boycott of military courts specialized in administrative detention, and their strike lasted for 19 days.
