Jerusalem, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation has passed a law to revoke the citizenship or residency of Palestinian detainees from occupied Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.

Human rights experts said the new racist law amounts to a war crime and violates international law and international humanitarian law.

The bill was passed in the Knesset, the Israeli occupation's parliament, on Wednesday evening by 95 votes to 9.

The bill drew widespread support from both the extremist Israeli occupation government coalition and opposition parties.

The law stipulates that revoking the citizenship of the Palestinian detainees must be approved by the Israeli occupation minister of interior "within 14 days of a conviction."

Then, the Israeli occupation minister of justice has seven days to okay the revocation, while the Israeli occupation judiciary must respond to it within 30 days.

The law also applies to Palestinian detainees who have received stipends from the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Under the new racist legislation, they can have their citizenship or residency revoked and be deported to the occupied West Bank or the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation is holding around 4,760 Palestinian detainees, including women, children, and elderly and sick people, in its prisons, according to human rights organizations.
