Jerusalem, ALRAY - A Palestinian detainee from the besieged Gaza Strip faces imminent death or might lose his eyesight at any moment due to medical negligence in Israeli occupation prisons, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said Wednesday.
In a press statement, the commission explained that Mohammad al-Abed Mahra was taken to an Israeli hospital four days ago after his condition deteriorated due to shrapnel wounds that he previously sustained after being shot by the Israeli occupation army.
Due to his critical condition, aggravated by deliberate medical negligence in Israeli occupation prisons, Mahra cannot undergo surgery in the meantime.
The Israeli occupation is holding some 4,780 Palestinian detainees, including up to 600 sick people, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights organizations.
