Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation released Wednesday Palestinian lawmaker Mohammad Abu Tair after holding him for around 20 months.

The Israeli occupation army detained Abu Tair, 71, on 1 July 2021 after storming an apartment building in Dar Salah village near the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem.

The Palestinian MP was moved to administrative detention and had his incarceration extended more than once without charge or trial.

The Israeli occupation army detained Abu Tair less than four months after his release after holding him for ten months under administrative detention without charge.

Elected as a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PIC) for Jerusalem in 2006, Abu Tair had his Jerusalem ID revoked by the Israeli occupation authorities in October 2010 and was expelled to Ramallah.

The Israeli occupation has jailed Abu Tair for a total of nearly 36 years.
