Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - Israeli occupation forces forced on Sunday a Palestinian to demolish a room in his house in Al-Mukaber mount town in occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation authorities forced the Jerusalemite Qusai Assrkhe to demolish a room of his house under the pretext of not being licensed.
According to Assrkhe family, the occupation municipality had issued a demolition order for their room two years ago, and they had requested the freezing of the demolition order more than once, while paying hefty fines. However, the occupation court notified them of the final decision for self-demolition on Sunday, or else they would be forced to bear the costs of the demolition operation.
Qusay's mother lives in a house that does not exceed an area of 100 square meters, along with her ten children and grandchildren.
Israeli occupation authorities have been increasing the number of house demolitions, along with demolishing commercial shops, agricultural nurseries, and industrial workshops, in the neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem, under the pretext of lacking building permits. The aim is to displace Palestinian families and replace them with settlers as part of the Judaization of the city.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2022, the occupation demolished 1,058 Palestinian buildings,353 residential buildings and 705 facilities, most of which were in Jerusalem.
