West Bank, ALRAY - Israeli occupation authorities notified on Monday evening the village councils of Al-Jalameh and Arabuna of their plans to seize 144 dunams of land from these communities for alleged security purposes.
The head of Al-Jalameh Village Council, Amjad Abu Farha, confirmed receiving a military notification that outlined the decision to expropriate the land until the end of December 31, 2027. These villages are located adjacent to a military barrier constructed on the western-northern side of their lands. Abu Farha emphasized that the affected lands are owned by the residents of the two villages.
In a separate incident, Saleh Mahmoud Abu Farha, a local resident, received a notification on Monday morning regarding the confiscation of his land. Saleh possesses official registered documents from the land registry for the 600 square meter plot. The land is earmarked for the construction of a new section of the annexation wall, sparking concerns about discriminatory expansion policies.
These actions have raised concerns and sparked condemnation, as they involve the seizure of privately-owned Palestinian land for the benefit of Israeli security measures and controversial expansion projects. The affected communities and individuals are grappling with the repercussions of such decisions, as they face the loss of their property rights and potential disruptions to their lives and livelihoods.
