Gaza, ALRAY - The Ministry of Education in Gaza said that eight students were killed, several others were injured, and thousands of students and children were subjected to psychological trauma, tension, fear, and anxiety as a result of the recent Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry mentioned in a statement on Thursday that the martyrs are: Iman Alaa Adass, her sister Dania Alaa Adass, Mayar Tariq Ezz Al-Din and her brother Ali Tariq Ezz Al-Din, Khalil Al-Bahtini, Lian Bilal Mdoukh, Yazan Jawdat Eliyan, and Youssef Jamal Abu Khoswan.
It pointed out that 23 schools and 21 kindergartens were damaged by Israeli aggression. There were cracks in the walls of classrooms, yards, and floors, cracking in windows and doors, and many devices and rooms for guidance and play were damaged as well.
The Ministry strongly condemned this Israeli aggression which affected all aspects of life including the educational sector. It stressed that the Israeli occupation denies all meanings of humanity and criminalizes the right to childhood as they kill Palestinian children, injure them, send them into captivity, demolish houses over their heads, and deliberately affect their mental health.
It pointed out that the Gaza Strip suffers mainly from the lack of schools because of the Israeli blockade on Gaza which prevents the entry of building materials. It added that the occupation's targeting and bombing of existing schools is a systematic Israeli plan and policy to eliminate education and destroy its infrastructure.
The ministry called on countries all over the world and human rights institutions to condemn Israeli crimes against children, students, and educational facilities, stop them, and bring the leaders of the occupation to international criminal courts.
