West Bank, ALRAY - An Israeli military court has handed a 12-year jail term and a hefty fine to a Palestinian man from Jericho in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the Israeli military court of "Ofer" sentenced Palestinian detainee Faris Barahmeh, 37, to 12 years in prison and ordered him to pay a fine of 34,000 shekels ($9,125).
A married father of four, Barahmeh was detained by the Israeli occupation army on 23 September 2021.
He is now being held in harsh conditions in "Rimon" prison, the club added.
The Israeli occupation is holding around 4,900 Palestinian detainees, including 34 women and nearly 160 children in inhumane conditions in its prisons, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights organisations.
