Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - The Palestine Information Center "Maa'at”, an independent human rights organization, has documented the martyrdom of eight Jerusalemites and the injury of 632 others by the gunfire of Israeli occupation forces and settlers since the beginning of 2023.


The center explained in a report issued on Wednesday, regarding the attacks and crimes of the occupation and settlers in the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, that the number of detained Jerusalemites in the occupation prisons has reached 651 detainees.

 

The center has recorded 196 incidents of aggression by the occupying soldiers and settlers, along with 2,209 instances of violations since the start of this year. These acts encompassed various forms of harm, such as killings, deportations, arrests, house demolitions, as well as specific attacks on the education and health sectors.

 

According to the report, the center noted a rise in the number of settlers illegally raid Al-Aqsa Mosque compared to the previous year within the same timeframe. This year, the center recorded 22,456 instances of settlers raiding to Al-Aqsa Mosque, whereas during the corresponding period last year, the number stood at 20,217 settlers.


The report also revealed that the number of individuals expelled from Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque during the current year reached 47, primarily consisting of Jerusalemite activists, defenders, and guardians of Al-Aqsa Mosque who were stationed there to protect it.


"Maa'ta" highlighted the continued policy of displacement pursued by Israeli occupation government against the residents of Jerusalem, stating that the occupation authorities have carried out approximately 56 home demolition operations in various areas of Jerusalem.

 

Furthermore, the occupation authorities have issued demolition orders for dozens of homes under the pretext of unlicensed construction. The number of home raids conducted by the occupying forces against Jerusalemite residents reached 68, with 127 instances of destruction and confiscation of various properties and structures since the beginning of the current year.

 

According to the center, the number of attacks reached 462 attacks in January, 378 in February, 377 in March, 604 in April, and 388 in May.
