Israeli occupation detains 33 Palestinians in West Bank raid

West Bank, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation army detained at least 33 Palestinian citizens during a large-scale raid into the occupied West Bank in the early hours of Thursday morning.

 

The Asra Media Office said that Israeli occupation forces conducted a widespread detention campaign throughout Tuqu town, southeast of Bethlehem, and detained more than 23 local citizens.

 

In Ramallah, the Israeli occupation army detained the wife of Palestinian detainee Atef Abu Aliya, along with her son, Amer, and their relative Alaa Abu Aliya after storming their homes in Al-Mughayyir village.

 

Serving a 16-year prison sentence, Abu Aliya has been jailed since 2008 by the Israeli occupation authorities.

 

Israeli occupation forces also detained three citizens, including an ex-detainee, during a raid into Nablus.

 

In Jenin, the Israeli occupation army detained a young man after breaking into Qabatiya town in the south of the West Bank city.

 

During a raid in Hebron, the Israeli occupation army detained three young men from Beit Ummar town in the southern occupied West Bank.

 

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces broke into Sebastia town in northern Nablus and handed its mayor, Mohammad Azem, a summons for interrogation.


Israeli occupation forces, in addition, stormed and ransacked the home of an ex-detainee in Kafr al-Labad town near Tulkarm before interrogating and detaining him for long periods.

 

The Israeli occupation is holding around 4,900 Palestinian detainees, including 34 women and nearly 160 children, in inhumane conditions and harsh conditions, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights organisations.
