West Bank, ALRAY - The Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights, chaired by Kuwait, discussed on Sunday the ways to address the violations committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine.
The Arab League, in a statement, announced that the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights will convene its 52nd regular session under the presidency of Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Talla Al-Mutairi. The session will feature a remote intervention by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Franciska Banez.
Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, stated in a press release that confronting the ongoing violations and the holding of martyrs' bodies by the occupying force in the occupied Palestinian territory remains a top priority for the committee.
She indicated that during this session, the slogan for the Arab Human Rights Day for the year 2024 will be adopted. The session will also address topics such as the "impact of climate changes on enjoying human rights" and "enhancing Arab cooperation in combating human trafficking."
The recommendations issued by the committee will be presented at the next 160th regular session of the Ministerial Council of the League of Arab States in September 2023 for adoption.
The session, lasting for three days, is attended by relevant government entities from member states, entities within the framework of joint Arab action, as well as national human rights institutions and civil society organizations with observer status.
