Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - The Jerusalem Governorate has issued a warning against the extremist decision of Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, which stipulates the non-early release of children.
This decision is set to take effect from the beginning of September.
The Governorate affirmed in a statement that this move could result in the increased arrest of Palestinian children, especially those from Jerusalem. Consequently, these children would be deprived of their education and forced to spend extended periods in detention facilities.
According to statistics from the Public Relations Unit of the Jerusalem Governorate, the number of detained children during the first half of the current year has reached 208, out of a total of 1,800 detainees in Jerusalem.
