West Bank, ALRAY - An Israeli occupation court has sentenced Palestinian detainee Nathir Dar Ahmed, from Abwein village north of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, to 20 years in prison.

The Israeli court also ordered the injured young man to pay a fine of 100,000 shekels ($26,000).

Israeli occupation forces fired a barrage of bullets at Dar Ahmed after he allegedly stabbed a soldier at the Bab al-Amud area in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

Dar Ahmed sustained serious wounds in the incident, which took place on 8 May 2022.

According to a Palestinian prisoners' rights group, the Israeli occupation is holding around 5,100 Palestinian detainees in inhumane conditions, including more than 1,200 under the so-called administrative detention without charge.
