West Bank, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation is holding 1,319 Palestinian citizens under the so-called “administrative detention” without charge or trial, a human rights organization has said.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) added that 20 children and four women are also held under such arbitrary policy.

Since the start of 2023, Israeli occupation courts have issued 2,645 “administrative detention” orders against Palestinian citizens, particularly ex-detainees – the highest number in over 20 years.

The Israeli occupation has recently stepped up the use of such policy in a bid to suppress the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

The PPC called for formulating a protest program, involving boycotting Israeli occupation military courts, to demand an end to such unlawful policy.

Administrative detention is a misnomer for holding Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable periods based on "secret evidence" in a stark violation of international humanitarian law.

The number of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli occupation prisons has risen to over 5,200, including 36 women and around 170 children, according to the most recent figures by human rights groups.
