Occupied Jerusalem, ALRAY - In a disturbing incident, Abu Bakr Al-Shami, a dedicated defender of the holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem, has come forward with harrowing details of an assault carried out by Israeli Occupation Forces. The incident occurred near the Old City of Jerusalem, specifically in the vicinity of the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Shami recounted how he had been present near the Gate of the Chain since the early morning hours. His presence did not sit well with Israeli officers, who subsequently ordered their soldiers to tighten their grip on him. As more defenders gathered alongside him, the occupation forces made the fateful decision to launch an attack on them.

Al-Shami explained that as he moved forward, the Israeli forces initiated the assault, targeting both male and female defenders. They proceeded to arrest several Palestinians and confiscated the identification cards of others. Before handing them their IDs at the Asbat Gate, those affected were informed of their prohibition from entering the Old City. Al-Shami emphasized that these actions by the occupation forces are part of a broader strategy aimed at emptying Al-Aqsa and facilitating the incursions of settlers into the area.

He continued, saying, "Al-Aqsa is a trust in our hands, and to the best of our ability, we will safeguard it through our presence, prayers at its gates, and steadfastness. We are the custodians of the mosque, and it is the occupiers who should depart." It is worth noting that Israeli Occupation Forces today violently assaulted and arrested Palestinian defenders, both male and female, in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, subjecting them to beatings and mistreatment.

Approximately 1,478 settlers forcefully entered the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the third day of the Throne Festival, conducting provocative tours and engaging in Talmudic rituals in the eastern area near the Bab al-Rahma prayer area. Israeli occupation forces were deployed around the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its entrances to secure these intrusions, with some of their personnel actively participating alongside the settlers.
