Gaza, ALray - Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin hit out Tuesday, Google's last week decision to change the label on its home page from "Palestinian Territories" to "Palestine".
"I think that the Google's decision is very, very problematic," Elkin to Israel’s Army Radio, describing the decision as jeopardizing Middle East peace process.
“When a company like Google comes along and supports this line, it actually pushes peace further away, pushes away negotiations, and creates among the Palestinian leadership the illusion that in this manner they can achieve the result. Without direct negotiation with us, nothing will happen.” He said.
Google an internet giant has changed its home page tagline from "Palestinian Territories" to "Palestine", following UN in recognizing statehood last Friday. A spokesman for the company said "We consult a number of sources and authorities when naming countries," and added that such sources included the UN.
