Gaza, Alray - The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, at the invitation of the Bolivian Republic of Venezuela, convened a Special meeting of the Committee at the historical Yellow House in Caracas on 17 and 18 April 2013.
The Meeting addressed two main issues: the implications of the resolution adopted by the General Assembly on 29 November 2012 to grant the status of Non-Member Observer State to Palestine in the United Nations, and initiatives to re-launch worldwide and regional solidarity with the Palestinian people and the State of Palestine. At the closing of the Meeting, the Committee adopted the Caracas Declaration in Solidarity with the Palestinian People and the State of Palestine
Mr. Saeb Erakat, briefed the Committee on the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and on the latest developments in the political process.
He said that Israel continues its settlement policy on the Palestinian occupied territories, explaining that the total number of the settlements constructed during the era of Nenyahu reached to 16,000 housing units; 11 housing units per day.
Erakat added that the aggressions rate partied by Israeli settlers against Palestinian reached to 315% during 2009 to 2012.
