West Bank, ALRAY - The head of Palestinian prisoners' commission, Issa Qaraqe, condemned the assassination of the ex-detainee Ayman Jaradat, noting that it has a negative impact on the detainees' cause.
Unknown assailants shot dead the ex-detainee Ayman Jaradat in Silat al-Harithiya to the west of Jenin on Wednesday evening.
Qaraqe said in a statement on Thursday that assassinating Jaradat is an agony for the Palestinian people, considering it a blow to the Palestinian detainees cause and their struggle.
He considered assassinating a detainee served more than 20 years in Israeli jails a blow to the steadfastness of the Palestinian detainee.
He called on the Palestinian security forces in the West Bank to provide protection for the released detainees from Israeli forces and their cooperators.
He stressed on the importance to hunt the perpetrators and trial them.
Unknown assailants shot Jaradat dead Wednesday evening, they hit him directly in his uppar part of his body.
Jaradat was released two years ago within a deal to release the 104 veteran prisoners.
