RAMALLAH, Alray - Dozens of Palestinians were lightly wounded on Saturday when Israeli Military Forces (IMF) dispersed a march in Beit Liqya, west of Ramallah, Legislative Council Member Mustafa Barghouti said.

The Palestinian National Initiative leader said that the march was organized to commemorate the destruction of the Palestinian villages of Yalu, Imwas and Beit Nuba by IMF in 1967.

Dozens of people were injured and three vehicles were set alight as IMF fired large amounts of tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets at demonstrators, Barghouti said.

One man was taken to hospital with chest injuries after being assaulted by IMF the Palestinian official added.

In 1967, IMF occupied the Latrun Valley, an area of land northwest of Jerusalem, and displaced villagers from Yalu, Imwas and Beit Nuba.

The villages were then destroyed and 'Canada Park' was built over the site.

The PLO has called the Latrun Valley an "integral part of the Occupied State of Palestine."
