Gaza, Alray - Member of the Islamic Bloc Omar Qurut was transferred to Ramallah hospital as his health deteriorated due to being on hunger strike for 9 consecutive days to protest the continued political detention of the bloc students at Bir Zeit University.
Representative of the Islamic Bloc, the student body of Hamas Movement, Mohammed Zaid said that “the fifteen protesters continue to hold a sit-in for the ninth day in a row inside the campus of the university,”
“They demand the release of their colleagues arrested by Palestinian intelligence service: Motasem-Billah Omar, Mohammed Qaddomi, Suhaib Rab’i,” he added
“Four students have staged the hunger strike on Monday,” he noted, stressing that “the next escalatory step is that 130 students will join the hunger strikers for three days as of Tuesday (August 20th)”
In response to the statement released by Fatah Youth, the student body of Fatah Movement, that the detentions were because of financial misdemeanor, Zaid said that “it is a false and naïve pretext to justify the continued political detention the kidnapping of the Islamic bloc affiliates.
